colinRiley, the site sponsor got their new site up! The design is a variant of the design currently at bratta.com and can be seen at http://www.colinriley.com/.

On a more personal note: The web business is slow these days, and I am burned out, it's hot outside and not really computer weather ... What to do what to do...

If anyone can get me a job in a pizza place or something let me know. But seriously, if anyone has any exiting projects that they need help with (and can pay for) that might give me the urge to work properly again, feel free to let me know.

I am probably going to Milan in the end of this week, I'll have a working vacation to get away from everything that distracting me here, hell maybe I'll even update this site :}

Anyway, I wish everyone a good summer, and hope that you (like me) get away from the computers and get out to get some sun.

DHTMLCentral is one year today
Written 05/03/2002 by Thomas Brattli

hzr from the forums pointed out that today it's one year since DHTMLCentral opened. Woho :)

And it's still in sort of a beta state, amazing :}

Things will happen here soon though. This thread has some nice views on what should happen on this site, feel free to join the discussion (I will join it soon myself).

Memory lane
Written 04/23/2002 by Thomas Brattli

I was going to make a new script for the site today, but I couldn't think of anything to make so I started browsing some old scripts and demos. I found some funny stuff, some so old that I had to update it to even see what it was.

So if you for some reason are as bored as I was, I uploaded it so you can have a look:

ie4demo
I made this in early 98 I think, I was trying out what IE4 could do. With sounds and everything :}

DHTML Space fight
I had totally forgot about this one. When I found it I played for like half an hour..hehe. I think I made this something in 98 as well, but it seems to have been brushed up a little in 99.

Useless random stuff
I don't really do drugs, but I must have been on drugs when I made this. Totally useless.

ballcontrol
Strange little script where balls bouce around the screen. I made this for one of my DHTML interfaces before eXperience DHTML, probably in 98.

I also found a LOT of different interfaces for bratta.com and other sites that I never finished, and the first DHTML Scriptmania design - nice colors :)... It's like looking in an old diary or something. I just wish I could find a copy of my very first web site. I made it in 94 I think, it had a lot of nice animated gifs, statusbar animation and huge pictures of me and my cat or something :))

Tommorow I'll try and get back on track.

SlideMenu
Written 09/29/2001 by Thomas Brattli Last updated: 01/29/2002

NEW: Updated for IE5 for MAC.

This is a script that I made a while back but for some reason I never finished it. It's similar to the foldoutmenu except that it's a little more advanced since the submenus slide open and they have background-images to make the menu look better. This menu has a limit of 2 levels of submenus.

Dynamic data using the DOM and Remote Scripting
Written 02/20/2002 by Thomas Brattli Last updated: 02/21/2002

I learned this technique a couple of weeks back from dotvoid (thanks to Dan or was it Sergi that pointed it out for me). So as you understand this is pretty new for me as well, but I thought I'd write a little tutorial about it because I found it really interesting and have used it a couple of times since then. This tutorial is for the little more advanced users and you should have some understanding of the DOM to read it.

The basic idea is to dynamically load content in a standard supporting way without using the old iframe buffer trick. In this tutorial I will show a couple of examples on how to use this.

Please note that is ONLY supported by Explorer 6 and the newest Mozilla versions. Opera doesn't yet support creating elements on the fly so this will NOT work with Opera.

Written 01/25/2002 by Thomas Brattli Last updated: 01/26/2002

This is just a short and dirty article trying to show the basics about how to upgrade your menu script from version 3. I will rewrite this more detailed soon.

Scripting for 5th Generation Browsers - Part 2
Written 07/24/2001 by Eddie Traversa Last updated: 07/28/2001

This is part two of the excellent tutorial written by Eddie Traversa about DOM and the fifth generation browsers. This part takes up more advanced topics, some of the topics have been partly covered in earlier tutorials on this site, but it's always nice to get a different approach as every coder has he's own way of doing things.

CoolMenus

CoolMenus is an advanced menu script that I have been working on for years. If you have been browsing this site you have already used the script. The coolMenus have been downloaded over 100 000 times!

Please note: The new version called 4.0_beta1_04 is still in BETA. I am sorry to do this, but I had to get out the updates to the site (new backend) so I had to add this new content. The content in this section is still under development and so is the script. Hopefully I'll have a version that I can call 4.0 period later this week.

See latest news for info about the next version and support - Updated 23th march.

DHTML Library

A small and rather simple DHTML library that makes it simpler to code cross-browser. With full instructions, tutorial and overview of features.

I am working on a new version of this. Currently it's a little a out of shape.

DHTML Guestbook

This is really not ready yet. Some of you might remember the DHTML guestbook with the draggable layers and everything at bratta.com a while back. I have been working on a little more advanced version (using the windowscript) that I will soon release here.
